The gimbal is the product
A mechanical 3-axis gimbal is the one thing budget drones cannot fake. Footage from the Mini 4K stays glassy through turns and gusts in a way electronic stabilisation only approximates. If your footage is going into paid work, this is the entry point.
The cost of that gimbal
About three times our winner's verified price, and DJI is holding list — no discount when we checked. That's a hard sell for a first drone, especially since a meaningful share of first drones get flown five times and stored.
Living with it
Thirty-one minutes per battery genuinely changes how you shoot: you stop rushing. Return-to-home removes the worst beginner fear. It is the most 'grown-up' drone on this list and it feels like it.
